I have to terminate the lines on a patch panel. I assume they've had someone out to locate and tag the appropriate port(s) on the patch panel.

They also say the following:
Code
"I would like the BRI’s to be extended to an RJ21X in the suite then extended to and terminated on an RJ45’s on
the backboard and then extended to the patch panel.
Each RJ45 should be labeled with both SPID’s in order and the circuit ID."

"ISPID: 661-633-9547_0101
ISPID: 661-633-9073_0101
ECCKT: 59.IBQU.565010.006.PT

TNS: 661-633-1074_0101
ISPID: 661-633-9617_0101
ECCKT: 59.IBQU.565010.007.PT

ISPID: 661-633-9487_0101
ISPID: 661-633-2780_0101
ECCKT: 59.IBQU.565010.008.PT

Please also extend POTS 661-328-0922 from the MPOE and terminate it on the RJ21X inside the suite. I am working on getting cable and pairs to assist in finding this line."
What would help a great deal is if someone could guide me on what I would need to do to get this done, that would be fantastic.

I have most of the tools I need. I have a punch-down tool, crimping tool, RJ45 cable connectors, an rj-11 (voice grade) jack and wall plate and I can get a line tracer/wand if need be. I can get the work done, if I know what I'm being asked to do... please help?

Hi,

If you do not understand what they are asking then do not do the job. That is a basic stuff and it ok that you do not know it but then get somebody who does. Are you a phone tech?

Jim

you don't even own ALL of the tools , just most of them yet you feel justified in taking on a basic project if someone will tell you exactly what to do .

I have around $3,500 worth of tools in my truck, and an additional $5,000 worth in test equipment back in the shop for special circumstances.

You might need a level, speed square, hammer drill, right angle drill, snake, test ringer, neon lamp tester, Krone tool, Krone test leads, bridging clips, volt-ohm meter, ladder, trouble lamp, razor knife, sheetrock saw, fire-stop...the list is virtually endless, if you expect to get the job done safely and on-schedule.

Installations are as much an art form as a science, and the artistry happens from years of experience. I would hate for you to take advice from us, as how to do this job specifically, and have you fail to do it right.

I think you need to sub-contract this work to a licensed, insured, and experienced person.

I won't bother to start a discussion about "RJ45" and crimping tools, because there's no future in that conversation.

Get someone to do the work and ask if you can observe.

Great way to learn.

Jeremy, I hope you aren't the low bidder on this job. As doghart recommended, contract/sub-contract the job out to a QUALIFIED individual/organization and make sure you are not only allowed to observe, but ask questions and possibly lend a hand. (altho 'lend a hand' could get you nothing more than coffee runs and such)

Maybe, and I'm not going to beat you up like the others, but you're the reason they're sending someone out to do the work. "They" assume you know what you're doing and you get to pick the ports and label them. If you don't know what you're doing and don't understand the order, no amount of "telling you how to do it" is going to help at this point.

I'll agree with the others and I'll take $3K for all the tools in my van/warehouse...as long as I can pick 5 or 8 special ones out :-)

Carl, hey there's some nice new and better stuff amd my TS-22 is starting to annoy me and I'd lose money on the Pentascanner upgrade anyway.
