Better off sticking with the tried & true brands like Superior Essex, Commscope/Systimax, General Cable, Black Box, Belden and others.

But I would advise caution if trying to blanket label all cable made in China as counterfeit.

Last year I purchased a reel of 25 pair riser-rated CAT3 Systimax cable. The label on the wooden reel indicated that the product was made in China. I sent an Email to Commscope (and my Graybar contact) to see if the cable was legit.

Graybar said that the cable was the real stuff and not counterfeit. Commscope replied back and said that production of riser-rated (I'm not sure if it was certain product lines or all of them) cable has been moved to China.

Plenum cable is still manufactured in the US.

Dam, why? greed? were they struggling financially? what about all those employees that made the cable?

I re-cabled a ryder truck office + shop and there was a Nordx Jack in one of the offices it hadn't worked in 15 years and looked like it was melted. I replaced it with a new one and took the old back to ANIXTER they gave me a new one no questions asked and I told the customer they gave me a new and they where impressed with the warranty and like that product.
Their stuff is good for 25 years !!! ANIXTER is a very good company to me and they always stand behind there products!!! ANIXTER #1
