Nearly finished installing the first IDS I have ever seen (after 17 years in the industry). It replaced a Spirit system using 2 digit intercom so jumping to 4 digits was too much for the customer. Changed to 3 digit intercom in system options. Intercom calling works just fine. The problem? On the EVX side I have found there to be many issues concerning 3 digit extensions, message waiting lights, and transfers from CCR auto attendant.
I have found:
For message waiting lights to work the extension assigned under mailbox setup (C)must be 4 digits, even if extension length under system options (B) is 3.
CCR auto attendant transfers (using a mailbox of type 14) work fine to extensions that do not have a mailbox assigned in the EVX. HOWEVER, calls will not transfer to extensions with mailboxes assigned - these calls end up at the non-subscriber voice mail menu, unless they occasionally ring the operator. If the associated extension under mailbox set up (C) is changed to 3 digits, then the transfer works, but then the mesage waiting light fails.
If I want the lights and transfers to work simultaneously do I need to use 4 digit extension numbers? Am I missing some obscure setting somewhere? (Like this system doesn't have any of those.) Do chickens have lips? Maybe the phase of the moon affects whether callers get the non-subscriber menu or the operator.
Otherwise the CCR menus and options work fine. Any input would be appreciated, especially if there is a magic answer.
Thanks.

No magic, just careful thought. I have a few customers who use 3 digit exts. 4 is much easier, But you got the vms right, for the Leds to light you have to go to the D screen and set the ext. number to match, I dont remember exactly which one is 3 digit and which is 4 So in setup C you would put in 4 digit ext and in D you would put in 3 digit ext. if it dosent work reverse those . On phantom mailboxes you need to have it in the f-screen, then in the G-screen set the phantom all calls to vms, assuming that the xfer problem is on the phantoms. Remember there is a day fwd and a night fwd, press s in the G-screen to toggle.
Hope this helps.
