Trying to provide a bid for a project in Port Chester NY. Licensed for many years in CT (T1) Do i need a permit to pull the Tel/Data on a new construction job, if so what is the process. Called Wesrcher Elerical Inspection service they had no clue told me to call the Villge. Called Port Chester buliding department many times but can not get an answer about permit requirements. Any input would be appreciated Thanks

Yes you need a permit. Its been awhile since we worked in Westchester cty Remember had to go to Main street in White Plains and pay the fee and get the permit. I remember te clerk not knowing what I was talking about, when I mentioned low voltage (Cabling) she had to call someone else and ask them. I forgot what the charge was and yes an inspector did come out and look so make sure its teflon. Also He saw old cables in ceiling and we had to remove them before he would give us the ok. Hope this was some help. Tony

It's spelled WESTCHESTER and there is no state or county wide low voltage licensing, permitting or inspection requirement. Everything is handled on the local level. White Plains, a city within Westchester County DOES require you to pull a permit and get an inspection. Port Chester, a village DOES NOT. Off the top of my head the only other ones that require permits or inspections are Greenburg and the Town of Mt.Pleasant which includes a number of small hamlets such as Hawthorne, Thornwood, Valhalla, Pleasantville, Briarcliff, Tarrytown and Pocantico.
