I just inherited this system and when trying to get into programming, the system won't accept the password for the installer level. Anybody know how to reset this to default? OR know a way around this? Thanks

Which password did you try?
Level8 is the default.

I tried level8, but it ignored the input. I can get as high as level7, but it seems as tho someone changed the password (level8) to ??? Of course, there is no docs on the system

The Executone office in Chicago area always changed the level8 password. Try xton, or contact someone that change password for you.

Good Luck!!

That not true. The chicago office RARELY changed the password from level8. If the system came from best buy, it could be almost anyting.

You might try shorting the ram chip, I think it's pins 1 and 28...(i know it is pin 1 and the pin on the opposite side of the chip) It will not hurt the chips. I believe there are 4 ram chips near the e-proms.

I would disable the battery or super cap switch before I'd go shorting out the ram chips! If there are any options loaded on the cpu then you will lose them this way though.

John,

It seemed like every time I came to Chicago to do service the password was changed, especially the voicemail.

Hope all is well with You!

Latter,
Jeff
