I have an IDS-84 that's running the latest version of software that's available for it.
The general manager has a private number for his office. He also receives calls on the regular company lines.
I'd like to have the private number ring ONLY on his phone, however, I'd like to have the company numbers to be able to be monitored by his assistant.
Right now, his phone is in hunt group 2 (along with other members of the group). The assistant's phone has an intercom button for him, as well as a group pick up button for group 2. I've turned off access to his private line, but it continues to ring on her phone. Is there a way to stop it?
Thanks J.P.

Check the station programming or "A" screen for her ext. Under lines make sure her ext. does not have day access to that line.

That's an interesting problem.Do you have any single line ports by chance?I'm just thinking you could ring the private line to a sli port and give the general manager a ringing group pickup key for the sli port.Is there also voicemail involved in this? Technically if the other phone doesn't have a direct trunk key appearance of the private line or group keys on her phone she shouldn't be able to answer it either.

I don't have an SLI port on my system. With access to the line turned off for her station, I believe the phone still rings but she can't pick it up.
The private line is a direct line button on his phone (instead of coming up on the trunk group OUT buttons).

When you say the assistant has a group pickup key are we talking about a ringing group pickup key ie code 902?If so,then whenever his phone rings it's going to cause the assistant's phone to ring as well. The only way I see around it is with another port that you could ring the private line to and have a different ringing pickup key for that extension on the general managers phone. That could get a little messy however if there is voicemail involved.

Yes, the group pick up key is 902. Is there a key I can program so that instead of group pick up she has a pickup key for the company trunk group? So her "pickup key" is monitoring the lines rather than the extensions.

You need to enter a sub-code of 201. This will make it flash only. With a code of 902, it is ringing for trunk group 2. Make sure there are no other stations in this group.
To get to sub-code section, hit s when on code you need sub-code for.
Good Luck!!

If all else fails, use a BFH.

That will work but then the assistants phone will not ring on any of the group calls. From reading your message I'm not sure that would be what you want.It sounds like the assistant is monitoring more than 1 phone and they are all set up in this group 2?

That's right - I have four phones that she covers in group 2. I also have an ICM button for each of the extension she covers, so that the group button and the appropriate intercom button when a call comes in - that way she'll know whose phone is ringing.
Her coverage of the manager's phone is set up the same way.
I want her phone to ring when he gets a call on the company trunk lines, but I don't want her phone to ring when he gets a call on the private line.

Can't do it unless you set it up the way I outlined previously. The pickup key cannot differentiate a "private" line versus the regular trunk lines.
