not that easy. no message exist. nothing to delete. problem happens after a power failure, and yes we have an apc back up power supply.
the blinking light is on a station programed to provide voice instructions after being selected by the caller from the main answer station. any other suggestions?

I'm not sure I understand what your call process is, but first thing to check would be to make sure you're on the latest software version for the 72e. I know the s-class had some weird button lighting issues about a year or so ago so it wouldn't surprise me to see similiar things in an e-class. Can you elaborate on:
"the blinking light is on a station programed to provide voice instructions after being selected by the caller from the main answer station."
Also, you say blinking station light. Does this mean it is a programmable button on another phone? Example, ext 100 has ext 105 programmed to softkey 1. softkey 1 is what is blinking. Is that scenario correct? heh. sorry, I ask more questions than I answer. The possibility exists that it is not a station button but a virtual voicemail button. In that case, the other ext could have voicemails and the extension with the button on it would have none.

Sounds to me like your using a stations mb to provide info in your auto attendant or other. You need to be using a info mailbox. That is the purpose of the info mailbox. The info mailbox does not allow the caller to leave a message.
Try this and your peoblem should go away. Let us know how it goes.

you are correct. it is an info mailbox that is blinking. it is set to leave instructions in the auto attendent. how does one get to the info mailbox. it is convinced there is a message to indicate but says no message to delete.
thanks for any info.

You cant be using an info MB in your scenario. Info MB's do not give callers an option to leave a message.

I don't know that the explanation makes sense. Nevertheless, here's the answer to your question: From a digital phone, press Voicemail, *, then dial the extension of analog phone. It should indicate whether there are messages in that mailbox. ------------------ | Signal Communication Systems - Fresno, CA | | Telephone Systems, Voicemail Syste... & Data Cabling - Central Valley, CA
