Does anyone have the ESI S-class System installation and programming manual. I am trying to do a self install. I figured out the pin out for the port card with the help of this forum but I have a ton of other questions that I know are in that manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My thoughts exactly! It's nice to be able to help end users with "how do I change my greeting" or "how do I change the time" or "how do I program buttons", but I'm a little surprised at installers who are giving end users the TECHNICIAN and INSTALLATION manuals. Not only is this potentially taking food off of another tech's table somewhere, it is asking for trouble. There is a reason why technicians pay good money to go get training from the manufacturer. If it were absolutely as easy to program as everyone is saying, they wouldn't need to do this, and nobody would sign up or pay for the classes. End users need to appreciate the fact that this is how we make a living. There are numerous examples I could give, but I think Mitch and the others did an adequate job in the referenced thread. Technicians: how long is it going to take before we all give away enough pieces of the store where there is nothing left? I like helping people as much as the next guy. Why else would I volunteer to be a moderator on here? I just don't appreciate it when others throw away the time and money I and my company have invested to allow me to gain the knowledge and experience to be able to offer this help. Now, if any of you end users have a guilty conscience, I would be happy to help you find a certified, official technician who can help you through your troubles, and in many instances, personally show you how to self-administer your system. At least that way, you are shown the RIGHT way to do it. That brings me to one more, and last, point. If everyone went out and tried to install these systems on their own, and then posted tons of complaints about how the documentation (written for technicians) isn't easy enough to understand, and how this or that doesn't work (when in reality you maybe just can't figure it out), it could possibly drive business away from me and other technicians, as well as the manufacturer who trains and licenses resellers like us, which could ultimately put a company out of business. Then where does that leave you? Now you have a system that nobody supports or backs up because they are out of the picture.

Okay, here is the soap box back, complete with the extra scuffs, scratches, and dents I just added. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
