Anyone have any guesses as to what the new product offering ESI plans to introduce at the regional seminars in September is? They say it will "integrate a proven technology with telecommunications for the first time in the history of our industry"
My guess is coffee-making! [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com] My customers have always asked me if our phones can make their coffe for them. I think I could sell a phone system that makes coffee as well!

I talked to my rep it is not a major roll out. So I wouldn't expect anything too exciting. I know there are a few things on our wish list. They have done a good job on meeting dealer demands. We will see.

They received a patent not too long ago that had to do with presence sensing. A phone would be able to detect if a body is near it. I have been trying to think of a valuable application using it but haven't come up with one yet.

Same here. I doubt this year's roll-out will incorporate that. We'll see.

Hey Brian! How's it going? Were you ever able to get them to get you through that firewall for the ESI-Link application?

The IT people finally fixed their firewall and it works now. Thanks for asking.

I was attending the ESI sales seminar in N. California with AJ, Bob, Paul, etc...
If you guys dont already know, ESI has available a new RFID reader (door phone). Not just any door phone to open a door but this thing with added software will function as a time clock.

The RFID takes a digital port and can only be used with the Gen 2 E-class and up systems. 500 access cards can be assigned to either an ext. or guest MB. When used as a time clock you can program a card to an extension and when that card is clocked in it will change your greeting on your phone. When away it will also change your greeting and also DND your phone to a blinking led (away DND mode). This also works via ESI-link and remote phone.

Alternate dial-plan for the X class came out a couple months ago giving you 1, 2, and 300's to use as exts.

Y class has been added to compete with the large PBX's.

Dealer incentives are crazy depending on your quartly dealer level 1-6.You can buy systems as a combo deal including a certain amount of cards and sets per system. They now offer a 48 button 100 pack and 24 button 50 pack. To be more competative when selling a system larger than 35 sets.

I can go on and on but I will leave it at this.
