I've started this thread especially for Martin so that he doesn't have to stumble upon it by mistake and ruin the surprise when he goes next week! Anyone who's been to Dallas for the rollout can post here and end the suspense.

Ok, Ok. I was there!

The biggest deal is that.....

THERE IS NO Y Class!!

The new switch is an ESI 600 Converged System, it can be all IP, all Digital or both. A total of 336 ports if all digital and 400 if all IP.
Up to 4 rack mount cabinets connected by SCSI cables. also it has a 32 port 1200 hour VM and hot swap cards as long as the card in the slot doesn't change type. Also they showed a Mirrored Memory Module (M3) for the 600 with 2 HD's in a RAID1 configuration. Pretty slick.

New cordless phones from Uniden, in two types, a small unit and a "heavy duty" one, they come in gitial, local IP and remote IP models ith PoE support! The remote IP has a RJ11 on it so you can plug in your home POTS line and use the phone for both work and home calls, and transfer between them.

New VIP and VIP Professional software and new licensing. The PC attendant is pretty cool, it's basically the new VIP Pro with a few more features and a different interface. VIP Pro has fax server integration, text messaging for internal users only, and auto-record capablities where is will record EVERY call and ask you when it's completed if you'd like to save or delete.

Oh, a new PoE powered IP_ feature phone II with built-in QoS, DHCP and auto configuration. Setup is a BREEZE!

The Wasp software for Presence Management is now ESI Timeline and it can be purchsed thru ESI, and first level of support is thru ESI.

Some of the enhancements to the current IVX line are account codes, multi-department ACD logins a Caller-Id key to replace the Missed calls key, Personal Caller ID on outgoing with a PRI, Distinctive CO Ring, off-premise each-me for Guest Mailboxes, 190 guest mailboxes on all IVX systems including the S, and a second expansion console.

New on the X: PRI pilot numbers up from 5 to 20, departments from 32 to 48, ACD admin logins per dept from 2 to 4 and members in a live ring list from 10 to 48.

On the E: NSP included on all systems, a new 72e with a 70 hour storage that is card not HD based and is CHEAP CHEAP.

A new Professional Demo kit with support for the RFID reader which is included, fully funtional VIP pro with Outlook .pst files and is compatible with the new cordless sets.

Everything is very very competitively priced, it's a very agressive campaign!

Also, as a teaser, coming soon: a softphone applications and enhanced ACD reports with Crystal reports capabilities.

All in all it was an impressive rollout. ESI didn't go all the way, but everyone felt that they made huge steps toward filling the gaps.

How many of the new features are supported with existing hardware?

As I recall most of the new features that will now ship on the IVx platform are compatible with units already in the field but I odn't recall any that did not require a software upgrade/initialization and complete reprogramming. Which brought groans from the audience a number of times.

Thanks Jim.

Complete reinitialization wouldn't be so bad if you could do a backup/restore. Although remember you can program a database offline and upload it when you upgrade.

You said that ESI didn't go all the way. What could they have done to make it all the way?

The features are only available on GenII systems. Other than that PhoneSol covered it pretty well. ESI put on very nice event. Only improvement I thought of would have been the unveiling of the 600 by a couple of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
