Within the last two weeks I have had to walk three customers through the shutdown restart process to bring their system back online. All three are S-Class with recent software versions. I have several older S-Class units in service that have never needed resetting since install.
Anyone out there have similar circumstances?
This board is so cool, I come here before I go to Manufacturer Tech Support. I hope you friends out there are complimented.

Was it a complete system lockup? I have never had an S-class lock up and I must have close to 100 out there.

How many times did you cycle the system? Remember, after I THINK the fifth time it will goto another backup system file.

Coral Tech- that's only if it's unsuccessful five times in a row loading the operating software.

Phones still had visual display even tho the time and date were not correct. I had to work fast so I called in using main line, never reached AA. Also customer(s) could not access dial tone with line keys or by pressing "9". All problems resolved with power reset. FYI-All systems grounded properly and on independent battery back-up. The good kind too. John

I saw similiar problems on an S class system that was plugged into a flaky UPS. When it locked up the 2nd time I swapped in a backup cabinet and took it to the office and couldn't make anything go wrong. when I took it back to the office, it went down within the first hour I had it there and I was still onsite, so I removed that UPS and cleared the problem up. A new UPS of exact same make and model the next day also worked. That questionable UPS is still in their phone room with some backup server on it so I have no idea what the real problem was, just figured it'd be worth mentioning in case yers were on UPS's. oh yeah, it was an APC ups, can't remember model number, but it was the little one that looked kind of like a power bar on steroids if that helps.

I'm pretty sure ESI recommends a "sign-wave" type of battery back-up. You might be able to get a list of the ones they recommend from the website. When I was at training they gave me a tech doc with the ones they recommend but I don't know where I put it.

I remember that document. The back up on the system is an APC 350 the sine wave version.
