One of my IVX systems has a Base Cabinet I + II that can hold 4 cards and a 2 slot expantion cabinet that is also full.

My question is: I know these systems should be able to take up to 7 port cards, so do I have to piggyback a 3rd cabinet onto the system?

I'm just confused because all my other IVX base I + II cabinets can only hold 3 cards.

3+2+2 = 7

The E-Class can only go to 7 cards, as far as I know. There is no Base III cabinet. The next step is to go to a 256X, I believe.

The 128 and 128 plus main holds one card. The expansion cabinet has slots for two more cards. Adding a Base (2) cabinet allow for 2 more cards and you can add a expansion cabinet to the base 2 for 2 more cards.
The E series supported 2 in the main and an expansion that can hold two more cards. A base 2 cabinet (which is the same as the base 2 for the 128 series) can add 2 more cards and the expansion on the base 2 can hold 1 card.
Remeber that the E series is either a 72 (base one and expansion only) and a 128 (supports all 7 cards).
