I am setting up two remote IP phones on a 72e, this is the first time I have done any IP phones, anyone got any cheat sheets to help a COMPUTER IDIOT out , or be willing to offer any help over the phone.I have read over all the stuff ESI has out there and it confuse's me even more. I just passed the online test with ESI.
I am in Tennessee and one of the phones will be going to be installed in Wisconsin, may need a tech there, if anyone's interested

Thanks
Steve Mull

What exactly have you programmed / done so far?. Let us know where things stand and we can point you in the right direction.

I felt the same way when I installed my first remote phone, and I even attended (the first) ESI VOIP technical course.

The Network Support Desk (NSD) is very helpful, and can help get you thru this maiden install.

If, after talking with them, you still need some pointers (or moral support, "go, Steve, go! You can do it! I know you can! If you build it..."), PM me your contact info. and I'll try to help. I've now installed multiple ESI-Link sites, and more than a dozen Remote Phones. I'm no expert, especially when it come to select routers, QOS/TOS optimization, but I know enough to help you some ("yes, you too can become as dangerous as I am, and for only 12 monthly installments of...! Just kidding on the installments part. I prefer a single payment, net 15. Just kidding, again.)

As for a Wisconsin dealer, have you checked with ESI yet?

BTW, something I noticed in my numerous remote phone setups:

After configuring the remote phone with Esi-Address, and setting up the firewall port forwarding, I had to reboot the firewall before the phone could pass-thru properly. Another tricky thing is the main unit's IP address configuration in installer programming, should reference public IP addresses, not private LAN ones, if applicable. (I can't wait to get FiOS, with 5 static IP's)

Steve

We have designed our own IP setup sheets for both the remote phone and ESI-Link. The sheets are extremely helpful as they list the proper device address "wording", the ESI "wording", the associated program in the iVX and any other information that you may need. If you would like a copy of these send me your email and I can send you a copy. Sometimes the ESI "wording" makes you wonder: "Enter the public WAN IP address to IP PBX" (or something like that)? Huh...you mean the public address of the router? Why didn't you say that!
By the way, I will be sending these to AJ at ESI so they can consider them for everyone.

For those that received the ESI IP sheets, what did you think? Also, if anyone else would like copies, just send me your email address.

Hey Breeze,

Could you send me those sheets, we are doing a small ISP with 4 remotes. Have done some already for another ISP and it went well. But it is always nice to have another view on doing this.

Thanks
