Customer has an ESI-100. We want to use the paging port, NOT a CO port. I believe we want to use a Valcom V-2001A and/or a V-9970. There will be 3 horns (2 outside and one inside) in a single zone. The customer wants to be able to press #0 and page over all the speakerphones as well as the overhead horns through the Valcom unit.

Do I need both of these units? Any additional power supplies? When we installed the ESI-100, we removed an old Samsung system that had the paging horns connected with a VP-624B and a VP-4024B. Will I need these power supplies?

Thanks,
Kevin

Power supplies are all you need - just like with the old Samsung.

I would get 3 V-1030c horns, and a power supply to handle 3 horns , I think it is a VP-2024. the VP2024 has a +40 power rating and the horns are
-6 , that would give you room to expand if needed.

So, when would we need the Valcom v-2001a or v-9970 units? Is that for paging system connections through a CO port? I hate hassling with CO port paging connections since the best practice is to put it on CO 1, but then everything is off such as Line 1 being on CO2, Line 2 on CO3, and so on....

Just to make sure I'm understanding this right....when using the paging port (x199 or x599), all we need is the power supplies? If so, wouldn't the VP-4024B work?

My thought was to include the paging port (x599) in the same paging group as the phones, so pressing #00 would send pages through everyone's speakerphones as well as through the paging port to the overhead horns.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Just to add....

The customer already has a V-4024B and a V-624B mounted in the wiring cabinet that were used on their old phone system. If I can reuse those units on the ESI system, then the customer won't have to purchase any other paging equipment.

Thanks,
Kevin

Steve,

Yes, but I don't remember how the Samsung was connected to it (another vendor installed it many years ago). They originally made the decision not have overhead paging, so I just pulled all the old cabling out and didn't document how things were connected. Now, after having the ESI-100 in place for a few weeks, they want overhead paging. So, here is what is onsite:

ESI-100
Overhead paging horns (qty 4 - model unknown)
Valcom VP-4024B
Valcom VP-624B

I seem to remember reading something about blowing the paging port (or the whole cabinet) using the wrong paging unit. What is the advantage or when would you use a V-2001A or V-9970?

Thanks,
Kevin

the V-2001 is a 1 zone , takes page port , co port , s/l port, and supplies background music, I believe, not sure about the V-9970. Just take the page port(y/org , org/y)of the first card, to the tip & ring of the speakers, and the power from the power supply to the power leads on the speakers.
