I just picked up a customer this morning with a small ESI system. He has all the ADmin giudes and user guides with both passwords. I need to have line 1 ring on all phones to get this guy going until I can get some info on the system. I used the admin to program a button for line 1 but could not seem to get the numbering plan to recognize zip( 1, ##1, 001)I go to the button and hold it down till it goes into programming, but I cant seem to tell it I need line1.

You need the installer password and you need to be installer programming. It sounds like you are only programming line button appearance.
