Currently we are looking at ESI....(and Inter-tel/Mitel). We have sold Norstar for years. Just wondered what everyones impression might be of ESI equipment. We plan to try a demo in the next week or so. I have heard that ESI has a few quirky things that may be stumbling blocks when changing out from a Norstar. Any advice would be appreciated.

Really depends on what you are looking for. I've over the years, replaced a Lot of Nortels, with ESI.
What " stumbling blocks" are you referring to?
An Experienced installer probably knows of many ways to overcome.

I was told that the number of rings when forwarding to voicemail is a system adjustment not a station adjustment...in other words everyone has the same number of rings to VM or where ever they may forward.

That is a true statement. Let me say this about ESI, I've been installing phone systems for almost 30 years, We've come a long way. the ESI system's run circles around most systems costing $$$$ more. It is an All-in-One. they have changed a few things over the years, But, for the most part, it is a stable product. Just like any phone system, they all basically do the same thing, just in a different way. Yes, some systems are a Lot more flexible.

If that is the case then I figure every extension gets a voicemail boxe or can that be toggled?

by default all get a mailbox, can be disabled phone per phone. Let me ask You this? are you an ESI dealer? Have you looked at esi web-site? All the features of all their systems are there.

The systems are good.... the support from ESI is outstanding. They are a good company to deal with and treat their dealers well.
