We have a ESI-200 system and recently changed our router. We are now using a Sonicwall. Accessing the system programmer works fine. After changing over to the new router VIP took a dump. It is now giving me the message, Timeout connecting to NSP. Consult VIP trouble shooting guide for help. That guide is very lacking. I am sure that it has something to do with the services setting on the router but I have everything like it was on the old router. Port 59002 on TCP. What am I doing wrong or what am I missing. This is frustrating.

TCP 59002 is used for the system programmer. These are the ports used for VIP UDP 59090, 59091, 59092 and 590096 TCP 59094 and 59096

OK. Thank you for that. Here is what I have now our our router/firewall:
Services: UDP- 59090, 59091, 59092, and 59096 TCP- 59094, 59096
Those services are allowed access under the LAN interface access rules. Still no dice......
I am able to ping the ESI systems address from within the LAN. I can access the System Programmer. Everything else works fine except for VIP. I still keep getting the "timeout contacting the NSP" message. HELP! haha

Check that VIP is active in station programming for that particular extension. Check that a greeting is recorded in the mailbox. Set the password and the level at the station. Verify in Function 8-1 that you have VIP licenses active. Are you using VIP SE or the Outlook version? You may want to download the latest verion from the user website (esi-users.com). I have port 004 TCP, 005 TCP/UDP, 006 TCP/UDP, 090 UDP, 091 UDP, 092 UDP. Found some old notes from back in the day!
