I have been using Firefox for about 4 months now and I really like it so I thought I would try their email software as well.
I can't seem to make it send a test message. It comes up with an error "must issue a STARTTLS command first."
Any ideas?

Sounds like your SMTP server does not support Thunderbird email client. Contact your ISP and ask them if they allow mail to be sent from Thunderbird. Or use a different SMTP server.
Or in you SMTP options try changing settings. Mine is currently set to TLS, if available.

That's what it was, the SMTP options. Thanks Craig!

No problem- I switched over to Thunderbird awhile back along with Firefox because I couldn't stand MS junk anymore. Works great and don't run anti-virus anymore either-boggs down the PC. If I could switch to Linux I would but Quickbooks doesn't run on it. Glad that fixed your problem.

Crabb, You could run quick books in a WINE or other windows emulator on Lunix/Unix such as Ubuntu or Red Hat.
Just one more way to get safe from the evil monsters! LOL

Merrit, I have used AVG before and wasn't impressed. I would much rather monitor it myself. My system runs much better since I took that "Junk" off. I have looked at the emulators for Linux, but haven't had too much time to work out the kinks- I just can't take a day trying to get it configured correctly to work on the network with QB and it's stupid problems. I really hate that program. Maybe someday I will make the time to get everything working together correctly.

Hello,
I've been using Carbonite to back up my harddrive and now I have a new harddrive with another XP version and have downloaded both firefox and thunderbird's programs anew. Carbonite has restored the files for these two.
Now I need to know how to get the two programs to recognize and use the downloaded files.
Any suggestions?
Best regards, Smoak
