I have a vx2 which shows 25% remaining on a 30 hr. harddrive. The sys.admin. says they have received "sys nearly full" prompt when leaving messages.

Customer requested backup to be done, backed up to floppy's.Tried to defrag but got error message "insufficient memry".

Took system to C:\ prompt and was able to defrag.Rebooted, still 25 % remaining when back on line.

When I look at how much space is being used on hard drive its 20 % of 2 gig, approx.

Prior to backup, went to mailbox status screen to reveiw number of messages in each mailbox. Anything over 20,new or saved, asked owner to clean out mailbox.

Any idea what's using up so much space?

The system is runnig DOS, therefore everytime there is a power outage or improper shut down it makes a copy of files.

Sometimes it is best to delete all unused mailboxes, CCR screens, and greetings. Defrag and csandisk help alot.

If all else fails. You might have to format harddrive and load DOS and VXII software.

The dongle restricts how much space they get on harddrive. Lik 40 hours off the 2 gig harddrive. Out of that 40, all the software loaded, prompts, grettings, mailbos, etc. use that same 40 hour space.

Good Luck!!

If all else fails, use a BFH.

How many users are on the system? I have over 300 on one of mine and usually show about 65% to 70% left. A lot of my users are lazy and do not clean up their mailboxes.

jj - I'll check database for unused mbx's,ccr, etc.

I was able to run scandisk from vm utilities, but not defrag.

Defragged from DOS prompt.Rebooted.Still at 25%.

Any idea where and what files from improper shutdown?

dcohick44- I have approx. 100 users.Probably 10-15 heavy users.

thanks

Change class of service so that users cannot store messages for more than 30 days.
This will force them to write messages down or loose them.

The corrupt file are tored in a DOS BAT file and are hard to desifier if a actual message or corrupt data.

Do you have the Executone software for VXII?

I forgot to mention that my system is a 30 hr also. I do not understand why you would have a shortage with so few users. I have my system on a UPS so no shutdowns unless I say so.I do have the software if you need it.
