Hello, I just had to replace the CPU board on my Iwatsu Omega IV System 1232/2464 thus losing all of my programming. Can anyone please let me know how to program the following: 1) When a phone call comes in how do I make the other extensions ring as well. Currently only the main console rings. (By the way I do have the DSS) 2) Also, how do I program each extension to be able to pick up the line that is ringing without having to depress the line that is ringing. 3) In addition, we have had two lines dedicated to enter our separate voice mail system which need to be reprogramed as well as the back line that could access the voice mail directly without having to ring through to the main office line and rotary system. Any help you may be able to give is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

Your questions are well beyond the intended scope of this forum which is primarily for "user guide" type assistance. Clearly your in need of a qualified, trained tech to properly set your system up. Try the "installers" link at the top of the page. The Iwatsu can be a challenge to program even for an experienced telcom professional.

Thank you for you prompt reply. It does not appear that there are any techs in my area that know enough about the Iwatsu Omega IV. Apparently they have all retired. The people I have contacted just tell me to get a new system. I can't imagine that it would be that terribly difficult to program if you knew the system. Do you know if there is a tech service in which they could instruct me via phone and I could pay a service fee that way.

You might go to one of the manual suppliers that advertises here and get the installation-service manual. Make sure you get the dss overlay, or at least a picture of it. Without that overlay picture, you might as well close your eyes and just punch button! If all else fails, PM me and I'll see if I can hook you up. John C. (Not Garand)

Thank you for your reply. I was able to find the manual on line with the overlay, however it is over 1000 pages and so far I haven't seen where it addresses the issues I am having. I haven't given up quite yet, I am still searching, on the otherhand I didn't want to mess anything up either and I think I was also hoping for a quick fix if someone knew the system and the issue offhand. I had been looking over some of the previous posts and one that dated way back to 2005 indicated that someone had the same programming issue trying to make the other extensions ring, and one of the posts said it was easy, however the answer was no longer posted. Thanks for the offer to help via PM. I'll keep looking and try not to bug you unless I am completely lost with no hope in sight.

The larger issue you now have with replacing the CPU, is configuring each extension in terms of keyset type, configuring all incoming lines and specifying a dozen or so other operating parameters. Also, your phone system isn't 'Plug and Play.' There are switch settings that need to made depending on your configuration. The best advice any of us can give you is to find an Iwatsu dealer. A qualified tech can have you all programmed-up in an hour or so, and you'll save yourself hours of grief and tech manual reading. Click here to contact the nearest dealer. What you need isn't difficult to do, but it's waaay more than you can easily be walked-thru over the phone.
Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Thanks, but once again the issue is finding someone in my area. I spoke with the Iwatsu rep for my area and he said there was only one company in my area that services the system and I had already contacted them and they wouldn't even replace the CPU Board, (we had a mouse problem that had decided to make the CPU Board it's home). Anyway, I had to get that on my own. Once I replaced it, the system was up and running immediately, all extensions were as they were, there are just a few of those programming issues I mentioned in my first posting. Do you know if there is someway to find someone freelance in my area that still knows the system.

Aside from posting in here, you could also try putting a notice in Request an Installer . We feel your pain when your phones aren't behaving the way you like them to, and I wish you all the best in finding someone in your area to help you out quickly.

Do not expect this idea to provide a quick fix as adding a modem may open a whole new "can of worms". That said, I thought I would pass on what I read. According to the documentation, if you have a modem installed, and if the system is configured properly, a 1232/2464 can be programmed remotely. I have not used a modem with my system before. Maybe others could say if this option is even worth pursuing. Keep in mind that you would still need a tech with a modem and the programming software as well.
