I am trying to link an Asterisk system into an Iwatsu ADIX Omega-Phone system. I understand how to look at the IPSUB cards and their configurations, and I understand how to lookup the Logical Port #/Extension information. My main question is are the Logical Port #s hard coded into the IPSUB circuits? I don't see a way to change this through the web interface on the IPSUB card.

Also, when the phone authenticates to the ADIX, what login is it using? I'm guessing user with no password. If this is not correct, where can I find this out?

the logical ports are not hard coded in the card. it depends what slot you put it in the adix system......The IP phones from my knowledge don't use any kind of authentication to the phone system, just tries to connect to the ip address given on the phone.

Thanks. One more question: has anyone successfully connected an Asterisk or other SIP system into an Iwatsu system?

We have an existing Asterisk system at one site and the Iwatsu at another. Our goal is to link them so we can make internal calls on the Iwatsu system from the Asterisk system.

I know the latest and greatest Adix systems (the ECS) supports SIP. sip stations and SIP trunking I believe, you may be able to use that for connecting. ECS's are expensive though.....

Sounds like you are trying to accomplish networking type featues. IPSUB card is for IP phones not trunking/networking....IPNET card is used for networking 2 systems together. You could also use T-1 card or simple analog card from Adix to an FXO card in your Asterisk. It all depends on how many calls you plan on being active between systems at the same time and your budget.....

Hey Im new to this site and was browsing through some posts and came across this one and thought I could shed some light on it for you if you havent figured it out already. Asterisk uses a different sip stack than the Iwatsu product does. I asked pretty much this same question to the sip engineer in irving when I was out there for training. he said the only way you could do it would be to use some sort of gateway between the 2 boxes. Iwatsu sticks to the proposed IEEE Standard of SIP to the letter and any system that doesent will simply not reliably work with Iwatsu. I hope this helps out if you haddent figured it out already.

I have successfully installed an Asterisk server behind my ECS, to be used as a conference server. I am using SIP stations on the ECS and connecting them to the Asterisk as trunks. Works great.
