Ahh, the joys of learning a new system, yes, I know, already treading in deep water here especially with a closed system like an Iwatsu.

Needless to say I've made great progress with it but thought I'd bounce a few things of the ears, er, eye's of others.

I found a copy of the ADIX v5 manual but later found out the system I'm working on is actually an ECS. So far the v5 manual has gotten me a good start, and while I did find the ECS manual, it's missing section 6. Of course that's a fairly thick and necessary section to do work on this system. I'd go with the ECS Programmer, but haven't had much luck in acquiring it, my customer no longer wishes to deal with the past service company and unfortunately it seems they have a lock on the market around here. I'm not too worried though if the search comes up dry as I can go through the console easy enough.

Second item is that the IX-4EVMC (Omega-Voice) is saying the system is full (110 hours) yet there are only five messages on all the mailboxes. In fact there is a phone that says it has voicemail, but when you dial into it, it says there is none. Someone said to leave a new message, listen to it, delete it, and then it should clear the light. If not, the VM is out of sync with the phone system, of course I can't leave a new message as it says it's full. I have the VMI programmer, unfortunately I couldn't get it to connect through the ethernet. I'll be heading back with the adapter and direct connect to the com port and see if I can jog it's wheels.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steven

I need to add onto this,

Anyone have a pinout of the DB9 to RJ45 adapter? I have a diagram of it, but it's very fuzzy and I can't read the pin numbers.

I'd rather be sure before I stick the sockets into the holes.

Thank You,

Steven

Sure:
DB9 Pin:
1-blue
2-orange
3-black
4-red
5-green
6-yellow
7-brown
8-white

Hope that helps-

Thanks Jeff, that it did, I blew up the picture from the documentation and was able to trace it out, still no numbers or words, but it came out exactly as you have it.

Thanks,

Steven

Thanks again Jeff, I was able to connect to the IX-4EVMC with the adapter and change the IP settings to something I could log into from another machine.

I was able to cleanup the system and give them 98% of free space again, as for the message waiting I just left a message, listened to it, then deleted it and it cleared out the light.

Seems I was wrong about getting into programing using the ADIX manual as the password is different on the ECS and I haven't found section 6 yet. On top of that someone said I need to use the programmer to make changes and that's still up in the air on availability.

Thanks again,

Steven

I'm glad the adapter worked, I've got some of the ones that came with the systems so I just opened it up and wrote the pinout down for you.

You are correct in that you can't program from the console or a KT on the ECS. The only thing you CAN change from the KT is system time.

The ECS programs a lot like the ADIX in most respects, but you will need the programmer to affect any changes.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Well fiddles with that then, it looks like that printed out section 6 of the ADIX v5 tech manual is not much more then a obsolete paper weight.

I called around to see about getting the CD, but nobody has called back yet on the pricing.

At the moment though it looks like I may not need it as they currently want changes to their auto attendant and some mailboxes. At least for that I found the VMI programmer so I'm all set for that.

Meanwhile I'll still take a look around for the ECS as the people who originally installed it did it in an odd way for any kind of future expansion. And I wouldn't mind having it just in case.

Thanks all,

Steven
