Ok, I know I'm getting old, and my memory is kaput, so maybe someone better then I can help me out.

I have a VMI system that only has 2% free space available, last time I was there I cleared out the logs and got 98% free space.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it again!

Thanks for the help, and is there a way for it to automatically purge old logs so it doesn't keep happening?

Steven

Free space displayed is recording space left. Probably need to have some users delete a bunch of old messages.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Thats the odd part, there's only about 20 messages on the system, none of which is eating up all the time.

I think last time I deleted the bk messages from the admin mailbox and regained the free space. This time however it had no effect.

Pulling hairs,

Steven

I had the same problem and had the manufacturer get into the VM remotely and he had to make changes to the software.

I checked it this morning and it's at 3% now, it did the housekeeping and deleted the deleted messages, but something is still eating up the memory on the card.

For some reason I was thinking it was some kind of log file I deleted through the keyset as I didn't have the software yet at the time.

You can specify the length of time a message may record. You may have only twenty messages, but if one or two of those messages are for the 60 minute max time, there goes a significant portion of your memory.

Even with 12 messages at 60 minutes each is only 12 hours, nowhere near the minimum of 55 hours, and they have the 512mb cf, so 120 hours max.

(hours are aprox as I dont have the book under my nose)

If something really funky IS going on, the only real way to cure it is to go on-site with a modem, call Iwatsu tech support and allow them to dial in and look around. They have access to things the dealer can't reach.

Well, I was right, there was a 476mb log file that I found and was able to delete through the command line.

I'm not sure, but whenever someone calls in it gives a "range error #### (1/200) message on the terminal window.

This may be whats filling up the log, I'll find out more when they go home as I have to take it offline to access the command line.

At least their back to 96% free space!

Another option - drastic though it may be - is to default the VM. (you have the procedure). If the problem persists after a default you'll have to contact CDI.
