I have a customer that has doctors calling into a dictation machine at the hospital. They want to add speed dials so that the doctors can push one button and not only dial the dictation machine but also dial their access codes. Anyone have experience with this? I had entered the speed dials with a pause but always comes back with "your call cannot be completed as dialed..."
I had it set up like this: 5554444P8111111; so it would dial 5554444 for the dictation machine pause 8 seconds then dial 111111 for the access code.

Your programming looks correct, though 8 seconds may not be long enough to connect to the dictation machine. Try a pause length of P9P9- 18 seconds total. You may have to fine-tune it a little. This is all assuming your outgoing calls are routing over POTS lines and not PRI. PRI circuits just do not like pauses and will not connect to the far end.

Since you're getting an error message back from the telco, double check your dialed numbers and such. If you send regular outgoing calls with Optimized Routing, you should send speed dial calls the same way, or add any access codes you may need to the dial string of your speed dial.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.
