hi every one i am new at this game, so please be patient with me, i am trying to setup a vpn network, to a remote site in another country my traffic will be voip, my problem the country that my remote site resides on does not like voip at all, my question is if any one knows if they telecom of that country can use any type of packet sniffing technology to determine what traffic i am bringing in the country and if there is such technology, is there any way round it, regards

Check with the Feds in the USA to see if they can sell you a copy.

First of all a VPN is an encrypted tunnel. So if you are passing data between the two sites, i dont see how they are blocking VOIP ports with the same tunnel.

If this country runs the telecom or the telecom is owned by the country. You better dot your i's and cross your t's. I Know that if they catch you pushing dailtone over there you could be in a world of trouble.

I am just wondering if there is a technology that can sniff VOIP, if you are going through encrypted VPN tunnel?

The answer is YES . It's just not available to the general public .

It is out there, but not readily availible. Although some network hardware can identify where it came from and its destination it cannot read the packets contents.
