Hello all, I have been browsing this forum for a bit now and there seems to be a wealth of information here. I am a field tech for a card access & cctv company doing some networking on the side.

I am currently working on a rapidly deployable, portable mesh network for emergency services use and I wanted to add the option of VOIP to the system. I was looking for a good peer to peer VOIP system where the extensions can call each other without a central PBX and adding the ability to have a VOIP to POTS bridge to allow outgoing calls. I have seen products offered by Netgear and Linksys but couldn't really find a good write-up on them that was of any help.

So my question is this, is there such a thing as a GOOD peer to peer phone system, wired ethernet or wireless, that can handle adding and removing stations fairly well?

There should be at least 11 Mbps and up to 56 Mbps throughput throughout the meshed network, maybe with some MPEG4 video encoders pushing video around at about 1.5 Mbps.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Jim

I believe that the Avaya One X is marketed as a Peer to Peer system...Avaya people could answer more about it than I can though. I have heard mixed reviews about it. The Linksys system is pretty nifty, but the area it falls short is voice mail, it does not have it as far as I know...but it could be ab easier seel due to the Cisco link (whether that is really good or bad in reality is debatablt though).
