I don't understand what your trying to combat between the 2 systems. What protocol is better? Surely, the customer is more interested in how the system will function and what each one does.
Please let us know what systems the customer is looking at and if there is any other concern and I'm sure we can help you out.

The company I work for does distribution of Mediatrix IAD's and it would seem to me that the SIP protocol is what's taking over. I know Avaya was based on H.323 and Nortel was based on MGCP. Both companies are now moving to SIP based protocol. Most of the units I configure are using SIP. For better or worse, SIP appears to be the protocol that will be an industry standard.

H.323 was really developed for streaming video, SIP is where it's at, way more flexible and the protocol uses the least resources on your system. Every vendor and provider that is serious is moving over to SIP, but beware there is SIP and there is SIP ;o) transport is everything.
