I have a customer that gets dial tone from a pri that is connected to the back bone across town.

My question is: Is there a way to integrate the dial tone from the Valcom system into the voip network at each location?

They have 2 phones on their desk the way things are set up now. (One for voip and one for the Valcom system.)

Dont really know enough about your equipment, but if your VoIP system can utilize ATA's then hooking the valcom up to an ATA would be one way to go. Can set it up so they dial the ATA Extension and it just dumps them into the valcom.

You'll definitely need some form of remote access device, like Kumba said. Despite the fact that the V-2924 is very sophisticated, it doesn't have this capability otherwise.

Thanks guys. I don't know very much at all about the voip equipment. Someone else is doing that system so I'm going to remain hands-off that system. wink

I've been maintaining the intercom system for years so they are asking me about combining the two systems. I thought if I could suggest a particular adapter that I could connect my dial tone to and hand it off to the the voip techs we could eliminate the need for two phones on each desk.

Tell them that they need to have their VoIP installer provide you an analog line and program it to be an extension of their system.

Need to know a little more on which IP phone system they are using.

I am going to assume that it will work with SIP trunks.

If you are using a Valcom that puts out voltage and dialtone then you can get a Quintum AFT200. This will take an analog line and convert it to a sip trunk. There are many different companies that manufactur equipment like this.

If you just need an audio output from the system to integrate then there are several sip stations options available thru valcom that will do this also. You can set them up as sip stations and then your customer would dial a specific extension to page.

I still do not know anything about the voip equipment and probably won't for some time since it's all new stuff.

I don't think it's a big issue with the upper management for the time being so I'm just going to let it be for now. Of course they aren't the ones with two phones on their desk either. wink

Regardless, the VoIP dealer/installer needs to provide him with the connection he needs since all options will require programming on that side of the fence. You are trying to integrate the Valcom into their system so therefore they need to set their system up to provide the connections you need. Trying to go about it any other way (unless you can program their system) is a bad idea IMHO.

Write up a quote and specify the type of connection you need provided by the VoIP dealer.

To connect to the V-2924 you will need an FXO connection from your host telephone system. Then it is simple T/R connection. That may be easy or difficult depending on the host system. FXS won't work.
