I received a request from a "very important" person in my company. The request is to have a wireless polycom for her office which is quite large.

Problem is that her location will be converted to VOIP before Christmas. She wants this done now. Thus we jump

Is there a wireless polycom in the market that support VOIP?

Not sure of a wireless polycom (I.E. Wireless phone) but you can use a WAP + Polycom to "Make" it wireless.

If they need a wireless phone as in walk-around handset then try a VTech 8100.

Looks like they are wanting a wireless conference room phone. Probably wanting a cordless boomerang for a conference table. The wired unit is a lttle unwieldy if it needs to be moved.

Konftel (The Swedsih version of Polycom) makes the KT 60W that is wireless, but it has to connect to a phone (IP or digital). It can connect by either bluetooth or a cable to the IP/digital phone. We have used the non-wireless version - the KT50 - and people have been very happy with it.

Or, if this can connect to an analog line you could use the KT200W. It connects to an analog port on the system so you do not need to connect it to a phone like the KT60W, but the phone itself is wireless IE: no wire from the base station by the jack to the phone itself sitting on your conference table.

The Konftel phones are conference phones from a Swedish company, they have something like 65% market share in Europe, but only like 1% here in the USA. People like them so far, and they cost quite a bit less than the polycoms.

Is there a unit that connect to the phone that communicates with the wireless conferencing station on the conference table? Or does the communicatioin go direct between the phone and conferencing unit?

They have wireless, and units that the base is installed at the head end, and the conference unit pulgs into an ethernet wall jack.

We use the ClearOnes exclusively now...

I spoke with a ClearOne rep. I was told one does not exist. The one mentioned above works with an IP phone system? you mentioned ethernet jack so i assumed it does.

I believe, though check it out with Konftel, but the KT60W you have the IP phone in the conference room, and then by bluetooth it connects to the Konftel conference phone...if your IP phone is bluetooth enabled that is.

If it is not then you have to run a cord from the IP/Digital phone to the conference unit....so it is not really wireless...just one wire. If you do that then just get the KT50 which is much cheaper and works with an IP phone...basically it connects like a headset with an amp, but the confernece phone has the amp built in. So, both the phone and the conference phone would be on the table, but the conference mic and speaker is coming out of the Konftel unit.
