Hello all, I recently obtained an Optipoint 420 advanced ip phone from an auction site and I am trying to get the sip firmware for the unit. I have an Asterisk PBX that I am trying to use it with but when I go into the configuration it only allows me to configure a Hipath system as the host.
Are there any Siemens dealers that can help me out with the firmware? I have looked for it but the best I can find is that the firmware is only released to dealers.

Siemens IP telephones come in both SIP and Cornet IP Telephones. There are not too many OP420 SIP telephones out there in the USA, most are the Cornet version. If you do not have the SIP version it is HIGHLY unlikely you will get the Cornet version to work on anything except a HiPath system. The Firmware is only available to authorized dealers.

Still will not help if your phone is Cornet and not SIP, do you know which you have? I can tell you if you have a part #.

With the help of one of the fine members here I got it working, just needed the SIP firmware. This phone has a lot more features than the Linksys SPA941 I have been playing with.
