What distributor sells Grandstream FXO gateways? I guess I'm going to have to start dealing with VOIP. Anybody know anything about VOIPTelcaster? I ordered the dealer setup today. I need an FXO adapter for my 1FB lines. They recommended the Grandstream. Somehow I think I'm in for a nasty learning curve. I'm getting too old for this. Thanks, Bill.

Well, GrandStream is a good "Cheap" way to learn. It is not what I would consider as quality of long-term equipment. Granted I have never used their gateways but if they are anything like their phones were a few years ago it would not be something I would sell for production use. You are definitely going to want to test under load and varying environmental conditions before making an informed decision on selling it. I would try pushing 2-3 calls per second through it, with each call being around 30-seconds long, till it's full, then rinse and repeat. I would also try putting it in an enclosed box or your garage to simulate a broom closet That's my 2-cents As far as where to buy then we have bought stuff from https://www.888voipstore.com/ and https://www.telephonydepot.com before. I'm sure there are others but those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

This is for my office just to start learning VOIP. VOIPTelCaster said the FXO unit was pretty good unlike their phones.

A small CLEC used the Grandstream HT502s as analog adapters. They just couldn't get them to work right. DTMF on incoming calls (for the StarTalk voicmail) wouldn't work, faxes wouldn't work...and something else wouldn't work also. They finally (after 3 weeks of trying) dumped them and resold AT&T copper lines to the customer.
I have no other experience with Grandstream equipment other that that. As it says in some marketing blurbs(about Telcaster)--"An excellent low-cost alternative for companies who are on a tight budget. Not the best speaker phone quality but excellent BLF choices."
Low cost alternatives sometimes just don't work good. Let us know how this turns out for you. Maybe I'm being too cynical. Good Luck.

Well at least their 24-port FXS gateway has an RJ21 on it. That's a step above about half the gateways out there. A lot of them are just a bunch of 6p2c mods.
For the price of their 24-port gateway I will probably buy one and see if I can break it. I have a lot of customer that can benefit from the use SIP but want to keep the investment in their old wiring. This fits the bill quite economically if it's not garbage.

Honestly I'll be happy if we can ever make a phone call with all this stuff. I figured at least hooking it up to copper lines I would have a better chance of figuring it out versus using SIP trunking. I know utterly nothing about SIP trunks. I started out on AE stepper switches, Xbar next, 1A2, then on to analog electronic and digital systems. None if it seemed nearly as daunting as VOIP. I think it's a shame I'm not a bit older, I was hoping I could bypass this one but at 56 and the government and Wall Street stealing half my retirement and now the Socialist takeover that's going to tax me to death I suspect I'm going to be doing this a bit longer than intended.

I have used and use daily the 496 on the individual basis. All of these depend on the software level. Grandstream had serious firmware issue, but are working fine now. I have used about 500 this year alone, mainly the 2010's and I use the Video phone at my home. I will tell you that the latest FirmWare release 2 months ago fixed alot of problems. I still use the Linksys SPA analog adapters also.
