If you are working on Nortel I would look to get trainned on nortel BCM products. Of course they are AVAYA now but training is out there. Go to google and put in Nortel training and see what comes up.
Good luck.

if you can, night school or other technical training on LANs and WANs will prove invaluable, as well. the vast majority of our "phone" problems are WAN-related, followed by LAN-related. a very small percentage -- I'd say under 5% -- is really VoIP system-related. you need to know how to troubleshoot the networks, too, or you're at someone else's mercy.

The problem I see with Nortel classes is you need a working knowledge of IP before you go or your always playing catch up trying to understand the techlogy as you are learning the product I need to get the IP side down first then can look into
specialized . Would those "basket weaving for idiots" books be a good start just for fundamentals an if so which or like you suggest royb start with LAN and Wan ?n thx for help
