My home phone is up & running now,when i call home on my cell the speak end to me is very faint hard to hear the party on the home end,although when i call my wife on her cell the volume is much louder, I do have a dsl filter on the phone line in the house it is the only one I have what test can i peform on it ? or should i just run a line for dsl, then one for the phone. what is a loop current tester on mike sandman site.

Not real sure I follow everything. If you call from one phone to you home phone fine and another to your home phone is bad, it's not the home phone. EDIT::(After re-reading this. Try a different phone in the house. What about landline to landline?)

You can run your DSL and phone in the same jacket, just make sure your filters are placed correctly.

You really shouldn't need to test your loop currect, but if you do just use a digital volt meter, you don't need anything special.

I will also add to what Bill has said about testing loop current not being unnecessary. THAT current you'd be testing has nothing to do with the voice level… The VF (voice frequency an AC signal) is superimposed over the DC loop current. The loop current is there for signaling and power purposes.
