Is anyone noticing an industry trend of small business owners choosing IP hosted service for their telephones rather than legacy equipment? I had 2 prospects choose IP hosted services today.

With all the variables involved, I am amazed when any voice and data technology works like it is supposed to.

Rub your hands together and keep warm for a second. Those "lost prospects" will be giving you a call soon.
I LIKE the idea of hosted IP voice service (i.e. IP Centrex), but I have yet to see it implemented with the level of reliability that most of us have come to expect from hard-wired services.

The only semi-successful hosted IP in my area is a bank group that uses at&t central office features over at&t T-1s to the locations....no use over non-at&t T-1s. If at&t can't control the circuit they won't service it.

Ken, that just sounds like Centrex delivered via T1 and channel bank! John C.

I have a few clients doing hosted call centers with me and they tell me they love it. It's a fraction of the cost of what it would cost them to get the same connectivity in-hour (T1-wise) and i'm competitive on their local rates. They also like knowing they can have agents wherever they have good internet. I have one client who's moved 3 times and the only downtime he experienced was on the moving truck. They were up and running business as usual within an hour of setting up their computers. I have had one customer ditch their cable modem and get a Data T1 instead. All their problems then disappeared. So, there is hope when it's done right

Naaa, customers are never cheap... they are just "creatively thrifty" in ways we don't understand! Not like we are professionals who do this for a living or anything

Hi Guys, I suggest you offer a hosted solution yourself. Mitel is a fairly good platform I hear.
I prefer Nortel stuff but Im biased.
Offer it as a solution. Likely be worth it.
Its a trend around the world. I have a customer in the UK. The servicing company offered a Mitel hosted solution.
Since there isnt much work out there, You might as well learn something like how to offer a hosted solution.
just my 2 cents
