I have a customer who has started a new division within the company

we took a few lines and split them off for the new company

Its critical that callers to company b not know the are associated with company "A"

when I contacted Embarq to set this up I requested the lines show the new company name "B"on CID

no problem I was told

I had a problem with the rotary when I was doing the system configuration and while I was on the phone with repair I verified the CID info and it was confirmed as Company "B "

I did the final install Friday and off course CID still reads" A "

Customer said he would call embarq Monday

Monday embarq told him it was all set

..it didn't work

today they tell him they cant do it

the only solution I have is to cancel the lines in question and order new lines under the new company name

Im also thinking that even if we get it changed it could revert back to" A "at some point

I would like to avoid this hassle and expense if anyone has any suggestions

Pots lines , Comdial DX80

I got through to a Supervisor at Embarq ,told him we have been getting a run around

(it didn't hurt that the customer was screaming in the background for me to tell him she was ready to look for another provider )

so what he's doing is setting those lines up as a separate billing group with the company "A" name

he says that in 48 hours it will be two billing groups as company A then we can call in and change the info on one to "b"and leave the other as "A"

that makes sense to me

{Ive got his name and employee ID just in case }

downside two separate bills , but that's no big deal

So we will see what happens friday

One should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.

That situation happened to me, also. It took quite a bit longer than 48 hours to get it done, though. If I remember correctly, more like 3-4 weeks. But maybe you'll be OK.

Just another point. Don'r forget about the "9" access group if that's something that they use. Might have to do some re-programming.

Well , I called Embarq yesterday morning and of course the CS rep didn't see anything on the account as to splitting the lines :shrug:

she kept putting me on hold and going to check with supervisors

after a little over a hour she said everything was set and the order was complete

she said the CID changes should take effect in 24 hours so I will have the customer check on Monday

she did give me a Order number and told me the System had accepted the changes

thanks for the reminder Mick

you had me going for a few minutes did I or didn't I ?

Hmm...I know I thought of it , did I do it ?

then I remembered as part of the changes I took the CC machine and put it on a SL port with Auto 9 group outgoing and when I tested it it started at the last company "A" line line 3 (4 is vacant 5 is DIL and company b is 6 and 7}

Isn't it amazing how excited we get when someone actually does what they say they will do? It's so rare these days...
