Getting ready to install my first SIP Trunking set-up. So I just wanted to get every one's impressions and stories!
Who was(were) your SIP provider(s) on the install?
What make/model of equipment did you install it on?
Where was it geographically located?
Overall impression of service and service provider(s)?
Thanks, Tony Burkhart

I have a few set up with Global Crossing in WI. All are installed on Avaya IP Office. Set up was easy. The tech guys at Global Crossing were pretty good. There was a little gap in terminology, because I didn't understand their terminology 100%.

What kind of system Tony? Toshiba? If so, the programming is a little strange for it but you'll figure it out I'm sure. Once up and running it works pretty much the same as a PRI. As long as the pipe is good it will work just fine!

We are testing broadvox and it seems to be working well. We tried using G.729 but we didn't like the quality so we are using G.711. We are on a 6MB/768kbps DSL, so we are pretty impressed.

If you just want to play around, try https://www.callcentric.com/ You can also use them for an "on-demand" group of trunks for out-dialing and just pay for the time you use.

I use Vitelity and a local agent for a company called X-Cast as my two primary SIP providers. I also have about a dozen secondary ones that are used for outbound fall-back or for DID coverage in an area.
If you have the traffic for it then try to use one of the larger aggregators (like vitelity/x-cast) or go directly to a carrier (Global Crossings, Nuvox, XO, etc).
And like they said, SIP works as well as your internet connection does.

Yup doing a CIX 100 Just found out yesterday about all the Toshiba restrictions on providers and that the provider we're using has a Broadsoft Server. ---- Thanks everyone, for your input so far and keep it coming! I am interested in learning everything I can about it, before deployment.

Is the provider on the tested/approved list? I spoke to Keith at Toshiba regarding one of our dealers wanting to get a SIP trunk test license for a non tested carrier. He gave me the ok. Was that you guys? Post up if you get stuck and I'll try and point you in right direction. Make sure you go to the Toshiba Training site and watch the SIP trunk training video. That should give you all the info you need.

The provider is Simple Solutions, they are not on the approved list, although they have the Broadsoft server... so it could have been us.
I have watched the video(s) by Chris P. and the "seminar" video. I started the programming and have the licensing in... just waiting on contact from the provider at this point.
I'll give you a shout if I hit any road bumps - thanks!
