I have had long distance service with Excel for several years. I am canceling that service since it costs $8/month and I rarely use LD. Once I tell them I cancel will I be able to make LD calls? Or will I have to contact AT & T and ask them to do something?
I rarely make LD calls so I figure regular LD through AT & T will be fine. Unless, of course, you all here tell me different.

Once you cancel your LD you either won't be able to make LD calls or your LEC will charge you some enormous amount per minute. So yes, you do need to talk to AT&T and tell them that you will no longer be using Excel for your LD carrier then you need to set up a plan with them to provide your LD. I probably would contact AT&T first before cancelling with Excel just to find out how their plans and rates compare. It just may be $8/mo is a bargain.
