Dave - You're correct. I've also discovered that Type I CID will function if the box is wired across (parallel with) the line, while Type II (Call Waiting) CID requires that the box be wired in series with the line and the set that's off hook. And only that box will show the CW CID. Figuring that out took a little while.... :bang: Getting it working with 1A2 took a little doing - But I got it. Sam

And then there are a few sets that will show the 2nd number even if not off hook.
I have a GE clock radio/telephone/Type II display that does it all the time but only scrolls message waiting after a voice mail is left when it feels like it.
