I recently installed an EVX VM card with 12 ports and 200 hours. After the install there is an intermittent problem with an outside caller going to an SLI phone. When it rings the user picks up an there is a beep beep, then they hang up the phone rings again and then they are connected to the outside caller. I was thinking along the lines on the M screen and screened transfer on SLI, and was wondering if that is the direction that I should take. Any suggestions?

Check the SLT button program for two or more out keys. (300/100) Also make sure the ring type is 2.

End, I understand that the extensions for the EVX need to be ring type 2, but am lost as to why the SLI need to be ring type 2. I did change them to ring type 2 and was not out of the building for 10 minutes and the problem happened again. Apparently that is not the solution. Dave

Try the SLI PBX option in the M screen. When set to yes the transfered call is connected to the single line phone as soon as the ext making the transfer hangs up. The switch-hook does not have to be cyled to receive the call.

Ring type 1 has (2) short rings on ICM calls and a normal ring pattern on CO calls. Ring type 2 uses the same ring pattern for both ICM and CO calls. I would set up a SLT at the MDF and monitor the system "C" screen. Try serveral test calls to the SLT (ICM to ICM, X-fer calls from the Oper. and X-fer calls from the VMS) Watch the status of the SLT and see if there is any differnce.

I don't think this is a ring type problem, I think the SLI user is picking up during intercom ring and the call is camping on...beep beep. This is either a transfer sequence issue (ie too slow to hang up) or the SLI user needs to wait for the second ring to answer. What is the transfer sequence.

The people from outside can dial the extension numbers as soon as they hear the greeting. This is what is happening here, they are calling from outside and dialing the ext. that they want and when it rings the user they pick up and beep beep, hang up the phone rings again and then when they pick up they are connected. I agree it is a camp on beep beep, but do not know how to resolve. Dave

I've never dealt with the EVX but is it possible that the call from the EVX is a supervised transfer call to the SLI port? Then the call does ring through after the intercom call from the EVX is answered.

Check Auto Answer in the station programing. This should be set to Yes.
