Does anybody have a toll free number they use that will identify a customer's long distance carrier?
I had one that I used for years, but it no longer works.

Are you thinking of 1-700-555-4141?
This is a no charge public published number that is available to all North Americian telco customers to see who their LD provider is.
I tried it this morning from my home line and it works for me.
If its not working for you it may be because 900 numbers are blocked on that line. For some reason when 900 numbers are blocked it affects the 700 numbers as well.

Doesn't work on Vonage. "We're sorry, the number you dialed in invalid..." (without SIT)
On Optimum Voice, it takes you to Directory Assistance.
