Is there a way to identify the phone numbers assigned to a ISDN circuit? With analog lines I can dial a phone number and get the number assigned read back to me. New to troubleshooting ISDN lines. I have a TPI Model 527. Reading the manual, it says you have to program in the numbers. Is there any option for getting this unit to pull the information from the line or is that even possible with ISDN lines?

Your provider should be able to tell you which numbers are assigned to your circuit. I dont know of any piece of test equipment that can pull the info from the circuit.

In short: No. One of the wonderful (?) things about ISDN is that if you don't know the number(s) you're essentially screwed. Like Travis said - go to your provider and get the numbers from them. The test set is essential to prove that the lines are working to the NT1 or Demarc but without the numbers it's useless. Sam

Whether you can do that or not largely depends on whether the switch is a 5ESS or a Northern Telecom flavor. Good terminal adapters (like the Motorola UTA220K) will learn the SPID if you have the TEI disabled or set to auto. But in my experience, I've only been able to set my TA in that manner when it's talking to a 5E.
Is this for a point-to-point or multipoint application?
