OK, I just signed up a few weeks ago and received an invitation to join today. I got to pick my own number, have it deliver incoming calls to any numbers I want, screen calls for me AND send VM messages to my e-mail.
It works amazingly well and costs nothing.
I'm hooked on this thing if it really is as good as they say it is. What's the catch?

Of course that may or may not be legal depending on where you / the other party are located. Nonetheless, I love my GV account too!

"Information on every call is recorded and archived." ------------------------------------------------- "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't 'listening in." Or, to put another way, Anyone who thinks they're phone conversations/e-mail/other 'private communications' aren't monitored at least occassionaly, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I need to sell for only 100 million dollars.

I don't think that any of my conversations are worth anyone's time to listen, and I certainly don't discuss anything of much importance for the most part. I'm willing to exchange the risk for the convenience.

I'm with ya Ed. I just got my account about 2 days ago. I've been waiting for it because I have a landline at the house that I don't even have a phone plugged into because I havev DSL. Everyone that knows me don't know the number and they all call either myself or my wife on our cells. Verizon would not provide me with Dry Loop DSL. So now the cable company's has a great package on TV and internet so I am going to drop my DSL and use my google voice number as a way for people to get ahold of me and the mrs. because it will call both of our cells and if we don't answer give them "our" greeting and not one of our cells and it will send me an email and send her a text that there is voicemail.
It is slick! I like it. As far as them recording my calls go for it I have nothing to hide.

I really like google voice. If you have a web site, create a call widgit and put it on your site. This will enable people to call you for free. Click settings then call widgits.

I've had an account since it was Grand Central, or whatever it was before Google bought it.
I work out of my home now and my cell can get sketchy out here in the sticks, so my business number is my google number and rings both home and cell, so I never miss a call!
Everyday I learn something new about it I like!
