I just purchased two addition digital station cards (Part #15750) for our IDS system due to some expansion we are going through. The problem is the vendor I purchased them from does not sell the cables necessary to connect the station cards to the punch down blocks.
I did find a tag on a couple of our older cables with some part #'s but so far they have been no help.
Anyone have any ideas where I can purchase these cables or have any part #'s that may have some more relevance? I really appreciate any forthcoming help.

How many do you need? I am pretty sure they use a standard 25 pair cable but it is shielded. We may have a few still around in stock, but I have to be honest. We use standard 25 pair cables all the time on similar Vodavi systems with no problems. It's more of an FCC thing than actual functionality.

A standard 25 pair will work fine. Our test cabinet has been st up with them for years and has never had any issues whatsoever. And yes Ed, it is the same exact system as the old StarPlus Digital with slightly different software. The station cards would be interchangeable if the back-plane connections lined up.

Thanks ev and Paul. I'm looking for 3 cables, I guess shielded if at all possible. Appreciate both your responses and going to poke around now to see what I can find. Thanks again.

Any decent electrical supply house in your area should have them. Do you have a Graybar in the area?

I have been using unshielded 25-pair cables on an IDS 432 without any problems. I bought them at Graybar for about $8 for a 15' length. They came with an Amphenol connector on one end and open on the other. I punched them down on 110 blocks.

the requirement of the shielded cables was to meet FCC emission stanadards. The IDS cabinets generate a lot of RFI/EMI. In most cases, this is not a problem thus the recommendation of using the unshielded 25 pair cables. Unfortunately, there is a 19th harmonic (or is it 17th) that sometimes interferes with police frequencies (and in one case the F.B.I) within the U.S. The shield on the cables were to be terminated within the cabinet to reduce these emissions. Another option was to use Ferrites (64 material) placed on the cables as they left the cabinet to help reduce the emissions and were designed for use with unshielded cables. If you don't get any calls in the next few months from the local police department (or FBI), then you have nothing to worry about. TJ

I doubt very seriously that this has anything to do with the cables not being shielded. We have installed many Executone and Vodavi systems that come with shielded tails, but once they get relocated, we just use standard ones without any problem.
