You'll be happy with your choice on the Corby. That remote looks like it will do what you want it to as well. One suggestion, wire the remote to the RTE (request to exit) input on the Corby. By doing it this way, on the log, when you see RTE, you will know it was the remote that was pushed (plus you won't need any relays to do this either).

Thanks, I was thinking of using the rte..actually the corby rep suggested it. I will let you know how it turns out, I am waiting on a few more parts so hopefully I can get this in this week. one question..in additon to the remote I want to wire the door relay on the phone system to open the gate as well. I was thinking of wiring this the same way I wire the relay for the remote..anyone see any probelm with that? It would be like having two RTE devices

I don't think the door relay would cause any problems. But I've been wondering what kind of cable you have between the gate opener and the house.
I remember you said you wanted to incorporate the fire alarm into the mix. I'm just wondering how many pairs you have available.
I'm thinking I would try to use the normally open contacts in the fire panel to power another relay ( from Radio Shack maybe ) to trip the gate and power a strobe near the gate also when the fire panel is "in alarm".
Just a thought.

I have 2 22/10 lines ran plus an 18/4 fire cable (along with cables for the intercom and cctv) Their is a 1" conduit for the low volatge and a second conduit for the 110v stuff running from the house to the front gate. Their is already a strobe mounted on the house clearly visable from the gate so I do not need to worry about that. I was thinking of working the gate similer to the elevetor recall.

Looks like you have plenty of copper. The recall may be the way to go, it depends on what triggers the gate operation. Meaning, does it take a momentary short across terminals or does it take a timed short? It's been a few years since I worked on a gate opener so I can't recall the precise details of the triggers.

Definitely enough lines out their. The gate opener just needs a quick short across the terminals. I received the Corby 6522 yesterday and got it set up on the bench with the mag loc and my multimeter acting as the gate opener (continuity tester set up to buzz). The keypad works great. After playing with programming for a few (very easy to use) I am able to get the mag lock to release while the relay shorts the terminal which will activate the gate opener. The RTE work great as well, just send it to ground and it works just like entering the code. so using the relay in the phone system as well as a rte button should work fine. I am still waiting on the remote transmitters and relays, but they look like they are going to work just fine.

got the wireless realy...works like a gem..only problem I had was it was supposed to be assembled but instead it came as a kit, casically a circuit board (PCB)a few relays, eprom, diodes, and all that good stuff.....so I spent the last 2 hours soldering it together...man it's been a while since I have done that
