Can you guys recommend a good DVR capture card/software that I can use in an inexpensive setup for 4 RCA cameras?

What types of things do you need to look for in these cards?

I was looking at 1 card which said it had 4 Camera input but only 2 real channels. I guess you could only view 2 cameras at a time. I'm glad I did not make a mistake and buy that camera!

Anyway, please let me know if there are any good economical DVR capture cards on the market now.

Thanks for your help.

First let me say that it is a much wiser idea to buy a complete dvr system than just a card. The amount of aspirin consumed is much less.

now a very good product that i have had great luck with is a company called eyemax. search google for eyemax dvr and you should be able to find their website. once you find the card(or even better, a system) search for part number in google, you will find several places tro buy on the internet. if you have problems, email me and i will help as best as i can.

Q-See has a 4-port card with female BNCs and software that you download off of their web site. I bought a bundle with a cheap camera for $99.00, threw it into a decent Windows XP Pentium 4 with a 300 GB drive and I was amazed at the value and functionality. Particularly the motion detection and recording. The recording went for 2 to 3 months without a glitch. Then it starts all over again. I could view all cameras remotely with a standard IE browser (has to be IE since it uses Active X controls). It had password control. It was a great deal. DVRs are nothing more than hard drives with recording software and motion detection algorithms.
