Is this old AT&T equipment compatiable with Toshiba?
I'm getting good audio coming out of the page port, but very low audio with a butt-set out of the amp, and nothing out of the speakers.
I'm re-using this amp as they had a Merlin system, which I replaced with the Toshiba. I touched no speakers, wiring, etc. Only un-hooked the modular plug from the Merlin, used the center pair (green/red)of the mod. plug and connected/spliced it to the RCA jack coming out of the page port of the Toshiba system. Everything worked fine, paging-wise, with the Merlin system so I'm assuming all speakers and the Pageplus20 are in fine working condition. I'm beginning to wonder if this PagePac is even compatiable with the new systems.
Any help/insight would be much appreciated.

Going by memory here, but I believe the Pagepac 20 had an option for a music source. That means the page input jack is not live until you short out the yellow/black pair on it. This mutes the music and turns on the page input wires green/red.
Try hooking your toner onto the green/red and short the other pair to see if it works. If it does, you now have two options; the best would be to hook the yellow/black up to "page contact out" of the Toshiba (does it have this?). If not you could permanently short the yellow/black (if they are not using a music source), however, you may end up with a constant hiss coming from the speakers.

Yes, you are correct about the yellow/black needs to be shorted. I tried this and still nothing.
Thanks for your help, TP.

OK, quick update...
I got pagepac20 to work with the Toshiba by using pins 1 and 6 on the mod plug coming from the page unit. Didnt have to short any leads either. Pins 1 and 6 for paging...2-5 aren't used.

? ? How can that be? The PagePac only has a 4 conductor jack. Are you using a connecting cable that has been altered? Here is a pdf showing the connections: https://support.avaya.com/edoc/docs/paging/pp20pii2.pdf

LOL, I used an existing 6-pin mod cable that was already being used with the Merlin system. I just cut off the end going into the Merlin, Used pins 1 and 6 and spliced into the RCA jack/cable coming from the Toshiba CTX100. PRESTO!
It worked...No idea how, but it is working fine.

And that PDF file you have, I found that same one and did those connections days before and it did not work, thats why I was so confused.
I went back and just played around with it, and pins 1 and 6 were the answer.
I know....makes no sense to me either.
Have a great day!
