We are looking at using IP cameras from Arecont Vision and Exacq network video recording NVR software.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with either one and can recommend for or against?

I've never heard of either of those companies. I hear Axis Communications makes some nice IP units, maybe take a look at those?

I haven't heard of them either. My boss has been talking to a sale rep so I'll probably end up having to use this stuff and just wanted to know what I was getting into.

My two cents...

Axis is the "go to" cam for IP stuff.. open architecture, too... sty away from anything proprietary ... at least IMNSHO

But be careful..... unless you have the budget for the higher end IP cams... go with analog and use a networkable DVR, encoder, or some other way to serve up that video signal (local loop viewing, recording, and web viewing being three different things)

If your boss is making the decision based on stuff from the sales rep ... you're stuck no matter what.... at least in my experience... this is what happens when "pointy haired boss" makes the decisions best left to techs and engineers.

Just my two cents -- YMMV, etc. etc.
