Anyone have any recommendations on a School Intercom System that would be good for 1 way audio to about 5-10 classrooms. The rooms are about 20x10 so sounds doesn't need to be too loud. Im new to this so any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Valcom's V-2924A is an excellent choice. We have them working in quite a few private schools in our area. You can review information about them at www.Valcom.com or call them at 800-825-2661. HERE is a link to the V-2924 product family. They also have some other smaller systems that will accommodate this type of setup just fine.

Bogen also makes a school PA system, the PI35A and SI35A. https://www.bogen.com/products/officecommunications/

You would have better success describing this for what it is- a PA system. An intercom system provides two-way communication.
Any commercial sound dealer in your area should be able to provide a suitable system for you. This is not something I would recommend an IT manager get involved with.

If all you want is one way paging any small regulated output amp and speakers would work. If you want 2 way communications then Aiphone make nice small intercoms

I think Radio Shack is going to be the best place to start for a simple one way paging system if I'm understanding you correctly.
You can get a small amplifier, speakers, and a mic to make announcements to ALL rooms if that's all you need.
But 10x20 rooms? Out of curiosity, what kind of school are you working in?

sometimes this board blows me away. i just had a customer ask me if i could recommend or maybe even sell him a new intercom system and i had to tell him i'd need to do a little research. it's a fairly large school and they want to replace their old valve-driven intercom since it's nearly the size of a Miata and takes a while to warm up (not to mention it's at capacity and they're adding another building). i poke my head in here and y'all are already on it..
the shame of it is, this old system sounds AMAZING. once it's warmed up, you can hear pencils scratching on paper in any of a couple hundred classrooms. i'm terrified that whatever we replace it with will be a disappointment, but at the same time i'd love to make that bad boy a centerpiece in our little museum of antique gear, right next to the telex machine. (not to mention getting a really healthy sale!)
i've installed nearly a hundred PA systems but never a stand-alone intercom, but we've got a couple customers headed in that direction so i'd like to get my head right on it.
should i pass on this task or can i do it?

No reason why you shouldn't, it sounds like you have the experience.

I understand what you mean about the quality of the older equipment vs. today's equipment, we all do. But the fact is the customer must upgrade if they are going to enlarge the campus so you may as well be the one putting the money in your pocket instead of another vendor. ![[Linked Image from img17.exs.cx]](https://img17.exs.cx/img17/5507/a4rhappy2.gif)

The Valcom 2924 and expansion modules are "the cat's meow". I seriously doubt if you can do any better, and Valcom has GREAT support. Just be sure to get the computer interface, it gives you a lot of stuff besides the interface! John C. (Not Garand)
