I've got a good one for you guys, I am getting frustrated with this problem. I have 2 schools that have the same setup, V-2924A with 2 expansion units. They now are having the exact same problem. The customer states that during morning announcements, using all call, and calling in to classrooms using the talkback speakers, that they get dropped. I narrowed the problem to only the valcom by installing a single line phone to the input of the valcom at both sites and they said the problem is still happening. Has anyone heard of this problem before? I've got some tough ladies that are beating the hell out of me over this one.

Sounds like something you should be asking Valcom tech support.

There is an input on the 2924 for a call-in button for each zone that will disable the associated speaker while those functions are active. If I recall correctly, there's also the option for a DND switch on a per-zone basis. Is there anything connected to this (these) inputs on the system's connector cables? If it's not being used, disconnect the jumpers associated with this function from the 2924. It could be a case of call-in or DND switches being abandoned in an blanked-over box where the ends of the wires are shorting. I know that this is a stretch, but it's all I can think of.

I think Hal's advice is correct for the fastest resolution. I do not see any kind of call timers anywhere in the manual. However, I do see something about "Page Priority" pertaining to systems using multiple inputs where a lower priority call will be over-ridden by a higher priority call.
A little more information from you would be helpful in researching this.
Like: 1. Does the problem occur on every call? 2. Does it occur after 10 seconds, 30 seconds, etc.. into the call and is it consistently the same time period? 3. Do the systems have a V-2926 option board installed? 4. Are there more than on inputs being used?

Thanks guys for your input. To answer Hal - I did call Valcom rech support. They were very helpful but have not heard of this problem before. They suggested a new main cabinet, which I will probably do, but I would like to prove the problem, I would hate to replace the cabinet only to have the problem continue to happen. I will look into Ed's answer. They do not have call buttons so I did not bring out that amp tail. To Bobby - 1. The problem does not occur on every call,it is very intermittent, fustrating the customer. 2.There is no time period, sometimes a minute into morning announcements, using all call, sometimes 5 seconds into calling into a classroom to dismiss a child. 3.There is an options board installed. 4.There is only one input being used - a Telrad phone system. I have eliminated the phone system as the problem because I disconnected it and had the customer use just a single line phone for a week. They said no difference. I hope I answered everyones questions, and thanks again for your inputs. Doug

Same problem with two separate systems?

Man, when you have a problem.... you have a good one! The first thing that pops into my head at this point is to make sure all of your Amp connections are fully seated from top to bottom. If my memory is correct there is only the top screw to hold them in place and a velcro strap in the middle, but if you over tighten the top screw the bottom of the amp plug will be pulled out of place partially.

yes, same exact problem at 2 different schools. Started happening at different times though. Could be just a coincidence, maybe they both got wacked with a power surge at different times. I have checked all connections on both systems more than once. I even defaulted the unit swapped the ecpansion units and reloaded the database. Same problem next day. If it gets approved I will be ordering a new unit for one of the schools. Thanks for all your inputs. I am keeping my bartender employed.

consider that you may be connecting to too many talk back speakers at the same time.
