I have a customer that has an old pelco ptz (pt280-24p) that they purchased at an auction and they want to get it running. It came with a javelin j0308 ACU and the a presearch transmitter and receiver. Everything works except trying to get the ptz controls to actually do anything. If you use the test switches on the javelin controller the ptz will move just fine. We also tried going direct from a computer to the rs232 cable, but with no success. the controller shows an led that signals are being received but the led to transmit doesn't light up. Has anybody worked with these before? Does anybody know the protocol that it is using? Any help or suggestions
would be appreciated

Maybe you just need to reverse transmit and receive on the RS232 cable.
